Loss Extends Nuevo Mexico Losing Streak

The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis wasted an impressive 8-inning effort from starter Sean Murphy, falling 2-1 to the Ithaca Fighting Imps at Mariachi Band Shell. The Mariachis, now 16-19, have lost 6 straight.
The outcome might have been different for Ithaca, had it not been for Pedro Gonzáles, the 23-year old center fielder . Gonzáles stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Ithaca up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Sometimes, you can be too aggressive," said Nuevo Mexico manager Kenny Billings. "You need to let the game come to you."
