Screaming Eagles Win, Yepes goes 3-for-4
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles knocked off the Olympia Ogres, 9-1, at Mercer Island Grounds. Thiago Yepes, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Mercer Island won. The first baseman went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Jason Miller got the win, improving to 3-3. He held the Ogres to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Mercer Island is 17-14 and Olympia, with the loss, 9-22.
Yepes contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Mercer Island in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Yepes took a fastball from Emery Manhoran and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Screaming Eagles to leap in front, 2-1.
