Mariachis Drop Blimps with Late Score

The Akron Blimps got a sterling performance from pitcher Fredrick Shive, but the Mariachis still prevailed, 4-3. Shive was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Nuevo Mexico reliever Edwin Perry got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Gypsyamber D'Souza was tagged with the loss. Nuevo Mexico is in 5th place in the Premier AA with a record of 14-13.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Nuevo Mexico trailing 3-2, Gustavo Zamora hit a fastball from Gypsyamber D'Souza to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Mariachis had a walk-off win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Akron manager Noel Ballard.
