Patriots Take Nail-Biter Over Voodoo
|
Eisse van Opdorp made an impact in the 5-4 Boston win over New Orleans. van Opdorp, who is tied for 8th in the PL in extra base hits with 44, went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. The win was Firpo Marberry's in relief. His record improves to 6-6. David Flowers took the loss for New Orleans. The 4th-place Patriots have won 4 straight.
Late in the game, first baseman Juan Andrés Martí had a big at-bat for Boston. In the bottom of the 12th, he hit a run-scoring single off Ryan Neal. The play gave the Patriots a 5-4 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Martí. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
