Blimps Fall to .500 After Loss to Fighting Imps

The Ithaca Fighting Imps knocked off the Akron Blimps, 4-2, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. J.J. Holmes, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Ithaca won. The third baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Armando González was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Ithaca, now 6-10, is off to a slow start.
With Ithaca trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Holmes hit a fastball from Michael Ramsey for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Fighting Imps ahead, 3-1.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Holmes told the Ithaca Herald.
