Nuevo Mexico starter Gerard Fyson pitched effectively against the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks at Mariachi Band Shell. The left-hander led his team to a 7-4 win. The winning pitcher was Fyson, now 2-0. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. With the loss, Ft. Polk South sinks to 7-6.

Pedro Santos had a big bases-clearing double for the Mariachis in the bottom of the third inning. With Nuevo Mexico leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Wynn Kelley and stroked the double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariachis ahead, 4-0.

"It was a solid team effort," said Santos after the game.
