Portland Evergreens starter Zaki Fakhiri was in fine form against the Charleston Battery at Charleston Armory, leading his team to a 6-1 win. Fakhiri, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Portland now has a 3-game win streak.
Portland needed the clutch hitting of Tetsu Matsumoto to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 3-1. For the game, Matsumoto had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
