The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the New Orleans Voodoo, 6-4, at Atlantica. The Rainbow Mermaids got a fine performance from designated hitter Javier Seco, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The current losing streak for New Orleans has reached 4 games.
Seco had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Santiago Rivera, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 6-4 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Seco.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Seco said.
