Portland used a superb performance from starting pitcher Jason Poulter to down the Charleston Battery, 3-1. Poulter, the winner, moves to 10-4. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. The Evergreens raised their record to 52-39.
Portland used the timely hitting of Kameron Guangorena to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Poulter said.
