Victory Pushes Shuckers Record to 53-47
|
The Biloxi Shuckers defeated the Ottawa Nationals, 6-2, at Nationals Park today. Leading the charge for Biloxi was third baseman Guan-xiu Long. He was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Marcos del Pozo got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The 5th-place Shuckers are now 53-47, the Nationals 32-68.
Long had a key at-bat for Biloxi early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was his 121st hit of the season and gave Biloxi an early 2-0 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Long.
