Biloxi withstood an impressive performance by Tacoma first baseman Hori Ikenaki to defeat the Fur Traders, 7-5, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Ikenaki went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner was Luis Valdés in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Ricky Mina took the loss. The 9th-place Fur Traders have lost 4 straight games.
Biloxi used the timely hitting of Emílio Vivas to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Shuckers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Vivas. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
