Biloxi had no answer for St. Petersburg Thunder starter Lorenzo Carregosa, who flummoxed Shuckers hitters as the Thunder cruised to a 7-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Carregosa, now 6-6. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. The Thunder bumped their record to 52-44 with this latest triumph.

St. Petersburg used the bat of Gene Blanton to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Thunder ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Carregosa told the St. Petersburg Herald.
