The Patriots had to overcome a good performance from Portland pitcher Robert Smalls to claim a 5-3 win at Evergreen Park. Smalls went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The win was Grover Lowdermilk's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Seong-hyeon Yi took the loss for Portland. The Patriots now have a mark of 50-40.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With two out, Jon Osterman hit a 1-0 splitter from Tom Peña for a 2-run single. It put Boston in front, 5-3.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Osterman.
