Nationals Sneak Past Fur Traders, 2-1
|
The Ottawa Nationals did just enough to sneak past the Tacoma Fur Traders, 2-1, at Nationals Park. Ottawa pitcher Arthur Stevenson earned player of the game honors. Ottawa reliever Travis Conklin was the winner. His record is now 5-6. Theodosio Brederode took the loss. With the win over Tacoma, the Nationals improved to 26-61.
Ottawa took a 2-1 lead on Boyd Tholen's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Tholen hit in the bottom of the 14th, left Tacoma pitcher Hang-fu Xiong visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments, Stevenson said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
