Patriots Fall to Evergreens, 5-2
|
Portland Evergreens starter Cristián Moreno turned in an exceptional performance against the Boston Patriots at Evergreen Park, resulting in a Portland win, 5-2. Moreno picked up the win for Portland, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 9-4. Joo-hyun Pak closed the door for Portland, picking up his 25th save of the year.
Portland shortstop Orlando Samundio contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 70th hit of the season and put the Evergreens ahead, 5-2.
"I like winning," Moreno told the Portland Citizen. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
The Patriots, now 49-40, have lost 4 straight.
