Thunder Win at Virginia Beach, 2-1

The St. Petersburg Thunder picked up a win at Virginia Beach Grounds, knocking off the Virginia Beach Whales, 2-1. On the mound for St. Petersburg was right-hander Roberto Punyed, who played a pivotal role in the win. Benny Berry finished to wrap up his 15th save. At 45-39, the Thunder find themselves in 5th place in the Silver AA.
Curtis Tiger had a critical at-bat with no one out in the top of the ninth. The St. Petersburg center fielder came through with a run-scoring single to put St. Petersburg in front, 2-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
