Tight Tilt Goes to Fur Traders, 4-3
|
St. Petersburg pitcher Roberto Punyed gave the Fur Traders all they could handle, but in the end, Tacoma left Rapiers Ballpark with a 4-3 win. Punyed allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings. Félix Benítez was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Ricky Mina earned the save, his 10th.
Tacoma used the timely hitting of Félix Olvera to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fur Traders on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said St. Petersburg skipper Emílio Sáenz, "and it cost us."
At 22-57, Tacoma is in last place in the Silver AA.
