Streaking Shuckers Win Another One
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Tyler Namaes, the Biloxi Shuckers defeated the St. Petersburg Thunder, 6-4. Namaes went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles for the Shuckers. Biloxi reliever Ron Holland picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Wilbert Gallegos took the loss. Biloxi has now won 6 straight, while the Thunder have lost 3 in a row.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Shuckers sent 21-year-old third baseman Guan-xiu Long to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 2 runs, to put Biloxi on top, 5-3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Long told the Biloxi Daily News.
