Voodoo LF Gunner hits 2 home runs in Win
|
The New Orleans Voodoo knocked off the Portland Evergreens, 9-5, at Evergreen Park. Jonathan Gunner, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Orleans won. The designated hitter was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The winner was Mike Donovan, who threw 94 pitches over 6.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits. New Orleans occupies 9th place in the Premier League at 24-62.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the third inning, when the Voodoo were trailing 3-2. Dave Summers delivered a two-out 2-run single for New Orleans, catapulting his team into the lead.
