Shredders Suffer 4-3 Loss to Rainbow Mermaids
|
The Hollywood Shredders got a superb performance from pitcher Jesús Vidro. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Northern Virginia. The Rainbow Mermaids won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Vidro was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Ryunosuke Kurota, credited with the save, is now 7 for 7 in save opportunities. Northern Virginia is 24-62 and Hollywood, with the loss, 52-34.
Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Tony Goodwin to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Goodwin. "Just do my job."
