Victory Pushes Shuckers Record to 20-15
|
The Shuckers had to overcome a fine effort from Toledo pitcher David Graham to grab a narrow 5-3 win at The Pizza Oven. Graham went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Fred Jerger got the win, improving to 1-4. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Biloxi is now riding a 6-game win streak.
Ricardo Ojíto drove in one run for Biloxi. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Robert Young. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Ojíto told the Biloxi Daily News.
