The Marquette Miners grabbed a 6-3 win over the Barton Springs Blues at Marquette Stadium. Marquette catcher Colton Shepard was 2-2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 to earn player of the game honors. Jeff Moore earned the save for Marquette, his 23rd of the year. Marquette, at 55-46, sits in third place in the Menard's AA.
Marquette took a 6-2 lead on Shepard's 11th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Laurens Bancroft in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Marquette to the win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Shepard told reporters after the game.
