Love Boats Raise Rally Flag, Beat Irving, 7-4
|
Irving got a terrific performance from pitcher Juan Gonzáles, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats. Lake Minnetonka won the Blue Sox Ballpark contest, 7-4. Gonzáles was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Lake Minnetonka reliever Tim Eastham picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Juan Gonzáles shouldered the loss. Willie Steele got the save, his 29th in 29 chances.
Lake Minnetonka used the timely hitting of Bill Carney to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Love Boats on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This was a good win for us," said Carney. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Lake Minnetonka leads the Menard's AA by 5 games.
