Pierogis Squelch Highlanders Offense in Shutout Win
|
Squirrel Hill played host to Asheville at the friendly confines of Field of the Rawhides.
Squirrel Hill beat Asheville on the strength of starter Yasunobu Suisha's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 4-0 win. The winning pitcher was Suisha, now 5-6. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3.
Todd Hunter made an early impact for Squirrel Hill when he stroked his 39th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which came with two out in the bottom of the third, put the Pierogis on top, 1-0.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Suisha. "I just want to win ballgames."
Today's win puts Squirrel Hill at 37-56, while Asheville falls to 53-40.
