In a low-scoring clash between Asheville and Squirrel Hill, pitcher Rubén Santana was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Asheville in the 3-2 win. Santana went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-6. Ryan Long notched his 11th save in 14 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Dan Olson, the 26-year old catcher . Olson contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Asheville up, 3-0.
