Storm Come Up Short at Columbia
|
The Columbia River Rats topped the Syracuse Storm, 6-5, in M3L Single A action at Columbia Stadium. The player of the game was Columbia pitcher and La Descubierta, Dominican Republic native Claudio Ortega. Ortega, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Tom Young closed it out for his 1st save.
The River Rats benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fourth. With Gregor Lennox at bat and Columbia leading 4-0, the Syracuse miscue allowed Columbia to plate 1 and take the lead, 5-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Lennox. "And not try to do too much."
