Dan Barnes did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Minnesota Loons from losing, 9-6, to the Bethesda Atoms at Atoms Field. Barnes went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Alco Roelofs converted his 3rd save in 4 tries. The Atoms' win now puts them at 39-48.

Had Ayub Kuthakwakulu not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Kuthakwakulu hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Atoms.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Bethesda manager Bobby Buck.
