Love Boats Win at Squirrel Hill, 6-5
|
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Spencer Maddox, the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats defeated the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 6-5. Maddox was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Love Boats. Rafael Martínez was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Earning his 23rd save of the year was Willie Steele.
Lake Minnetonka used the timely hitting of Ding-bong Wang to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Love Boats ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
Wang told a Lake Minnetonka Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
