Highlanders Deal Polar Bears Painful Loss
|
Asheville starter Vicente Molina pitched effectively against the Billings Polar Bears at Asheville Park. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. The winner was Ryan Long in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Vas Atepko took the loss. Asheville is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Tikaroa Hakapuna was the walk-off hero for Asheville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Highlanders left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Billings manager Marvin Nelson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
