Getting a good performance from designated hitter Roland Rankin, the Marquette Miners defeated the Minnesota Loons, 5-4. Rankin was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Miners. After today's action, Marquette sits at 45-37, while Minnesota falls to 35-47.

Rankin had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Vicente Dávila, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Miners a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rankin.
