Polar Bears Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Billings and Squirrel Hill duked it out at Field of the Rawhides and the Polar Bears came out victorious.
Billings center fielder Edward Johnson was instrumental in his team's 3-1 win over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. Johnson, who is tied for 7th in the 3AA in stolen bases with 14, went 3-4 with no runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Polar Bears. António Gallegos sewed up the save, his 2nd.
With Billings leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Johnson hit a run-scoring double off Squirrel Hill hurler Todd Hunter. It was the 16th double of the season for Johnson and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Johnson told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
The Polar Bears, at 30-36, have now won 4 straight.
