The Asheville Highlanders grabbed a 8-2 win over the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats at Asheville Park. Asheville third baseman Mark Mears went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Vicente Molina, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held the Love Boats to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Asheville is now 37-25, Lake Minnetonka 42-20.

Asheville took a 3-2 lead on Juan Sapinoso's 8th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Sapinoso hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Lake Minnetonka pitcher Tim Eastham shaking his head.
