Marquette Wins, Knight goes 3-for-4
|
The Marquette Miners topped the Richland Rails by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Bill Knight. Knight was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Miners on the day. Marquette is now 31-26, Richland 32-25.
The Miners grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, Steve Chittick, who is tied for 10th in the 3AA with a .490 slugging percentage, hit a 3-run home run off Nicolaas Eland, putting Marquette in front, 5-1. For Chittick, it was his 7th home run of the season.
In postgame comments to the Marquette Daily News, Chittick said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
