Highlanders Sneak Past Rails, 3-2

Asheville played host to Richland at the friendly confines of Asheville Park.
Asheville right-hander John Boyd made an effective start against the Richland Rails at Asheville Park, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Asheville reliever Ryan Long got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Artie Bates was tagged with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Asheville first baseman Koryusai Maejima, facing Artie Bates, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Highlanders the 3-2 win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Maejima told the Asheville Gazette.
The 4th-place Rails have dropped 6 straight games.
