Polar Bears Fall to Pierogis, 7-5
|
Billings left fielder Stanley Bell had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Bell was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Squirrel Hill beat the Polar Bears, 7-5. Bell was named the player of the game despite the loss. Todd Hunter earned the win for Squirrel Hill. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 4-5. Billings has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of Si-xun Jin to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Pierogis on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Jin told the Squirrel Hill Herald.
