Highlanders Stymie Bethesda, Take 4-1 Win
|
Asheville Highlanders starter Dan Dunn turned in an exceptional performance against the Bethesda Atoms at Atoms Field, resulting in a Asheville win, 4-1. Dunn went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. Jason Cannon closed the door for Asheville, picking up his 8th save of the year.
The outcome might have been different for Asheville, had it not been for Ivano Pohvisnev, the 21-year old catcher . Pohvisnev stroked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put Asheville up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
Pohvisnev told a Asheville Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Highlanders go to 12-9, putting them 4th in the Menard's AA.
