Blues Continue Skid Thanks to Rodríguez, Polar Bears
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Leonardo Rodríguez, the Billings Polar Bears defeated the Barton Springs Blues, 9-6. Rodríguez went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Polar Bears. Peter Kossan, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-1. With the loss, Barton Springs is 8-11.
Billings used the timely hitting of Rupert Bethune to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Polar Bears on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played hard and won," said Rodríguez. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
