Loons Get Close Win Over Hops
The Minnesota Loons picked up a win at Loony Bin, knocking off the Yakima Hops, 4-3. Starting pitcher Voitto Niskakangas played a key role in the triumph. The Hops fall to 8-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2042 season.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 3-3, first baseman Zane Atkins won it for Minnesota. With a runner on 2nd, Atkins hit a 1-1 fastball from Timo Noordam for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Yakima manager Phillip Tinker.
