Kingfishers Prove Rude Guests, Win 5-2 at Brooklyn
|
Brooklyn got a terrific game from left fielder Tony Wonder. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Pittsburgh, 5-2. Wonder was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-4 with 2 home runs. Pierre Delecto converted his 2nd save in 2 tries. The Kingfishers bumped their record to 64-44 with this latest triumph.
Pittsburgh relied on the hitting of Rafael Abasto to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 2-0. For the game, Abasto had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Abasto told the Pittsburgh Bulletin.
