Qiu Dazzles in Pittsburgh Win
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers went home winners at Pittsburgh Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Zhao-ji Qiu. Qiu silenced the Panama City Piranhas, enabling Pittsburgh to grab the 2-0 win. Joe Khokar earned his 14th save in 16 chances. The Kingfishers bumped their record to 61-42 with this latest triumph.
Qiu's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 7 strikeouts in 7.1 innings while allowing 4 hits. Qiu, who leads the 3L in wins with 12, goes to 12-3 on the year with 131 strikeouts.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Qiu told reporters after the game.
