Lakers Subdue Oaks, 8-5
|
Oakland second baseman John Mast had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mast went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Echo Park beat the Oaks, 8-5. Mast was named the player of the game despite the loss. Bungay Osiman converted his 32nd save in 33 tries. Echo Park has a 3-game win streak, while Oakland has lost 3 in a row.
Philip Todd's at-bat in the bottom of the first inning was a big one for Echo Park. Coming to bat with no one out, runners on 1st and 2nd and Echo Park trailing 2-0, the left fielder reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Todd said after the game.
