Grey Wolves Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Piranhas
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves did just enough to sneak past the Panama City Piranhas, 1-0, at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Vancouver pitcher Johnny Jones earned player of the game honors. Vancouver is in 10th place in the Third League with a record of 39-53.
Vancouver took a 1-0 lead on José Torres's 22nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Torres hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Panama City pitcher Jonathan Lentz visibly frustrated.
Torres called the win "a collective effort."
