Browns Need Extra Frames to Get Past Evergreens
The Cleveland Browns picked up a win at Evergreen Park, knocking off the Portland Evergreens, 5-4. Starting pitcher Yan van der Meijden was an essential part of his team's success. Dewitt Clendaniel recorded the save for Cleveland, his 9th of the season. The Browns improve their record to 30-37 with the win over Portland.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jhett Larson came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Portland pitcher Ron Rouse, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 5-4.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Greg Diersing.
