Kingfishers Prevail, 4-2, Over Panama City

The Panama City Piranhas got a sterling performance from first baseman Blaze Alexander, but the Kingfishers still prevailed, 4-2. Alexander was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Zhao-ji Qiu, the winner, improved to 10-3. He held the Piranhas to 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Pittsburgh now sits in 4th place in the Third League at 50-38.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Naganori Inoue, the 21-year old center fielder . Inoue contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Pittsburgh up, 1-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Panama City skipper Brian Talamante, "and it cost us."
