Browns Score Late, Stun Rainbow Mermaids, 6-4
|
The Cleveland Browns saddled the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids with a loss at Atlantica. The final score was 6-4. Jhett Larson, named player of the game, was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Cleveland second baseman scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Cleveland reliever Nick Altrock picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Jason Starkey took the loss. The 8th-place Browns lifted their record to 27-35.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Tom Camden to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Browns on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Larson.
