Coyotes Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Dodos
|
The Coyotes faced a stiff challenge from Hialeah pitcher César Soto, but persevered to claim a win at Dodos Ballpark. The final score was 5-4. Soto went 5.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Hamilton reliever Guy Walters picked up the win, upping his record to 2-6. John Stevens was saddled with the loss. At 17-62, Hamilton is in last place in the Silver AAA.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Rob Shannon came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Hialeah pitcher John Stevens, he hit a 0-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hamilton on top, 5-4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Hamilton manager Steven Hodnett. "It's usually not just one thing."
