Men Shut Out Drummers
|
Florida right-hander Enrique Cruz pitched his team to a shutout win, 4-0, over the Tortolita Drummers. In 6.2 innings, Cruz surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Florida is now 39-40, while Tortolita is 50-29.
Florida used the timely hitting of Basava Puri to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Men on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Florida skipper Jerome Perry.
