Lake Monsters Get Road Win, 3-2
|
In a tight contest at Nuclear Stadium, the Vermont Lake Monsters edged the Scranton Supernovas by the score of 3-2. Vermont designated hitter Todd Strachota, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. The winner was Vermont reliever Jesús Fregaso, now 6-1. The loser was Albert Karlier. Vermont is now 39-37, Scranton 54-22.
It could have been a different outcome for Vermont, had it not been for Mark Kirk, the 22-year old center fielder . Kirk contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the fifth inning to put Vermont up, 3-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Vermont skipper Juan Rodríguez.
