Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Yaakov Shmerkin, the Hialeah Dodos defeated the Port Huron Blitzkrieg, 7-4. Shmerkin went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Dodos. Clint Kirk earned the win for Hialeah. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-3. The save was credited to Vincent Moreau, his 1st.

In the bottom of the second inning, catcher Xavier Mercier delivered a key hit for the Dodos. With Hialeah trailing 4-1, he ripped a 3-run home run.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Mercier said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

Hialeah, now 39-33, holds third place in the Silver AAA.
