The Port Huron Blitzkrieg picked up a win at Port Huron Park, knocking off the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-3. Starting pitcher Mike Bennett, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Bennett went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-6. Daryl Dwyer got credit for the save for Port Huron. It was his 12th of the year.
Marços Mansilha had a big run-scoring single for the Blitzkrieg in the bottom of the third inning. With Port Huron leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Jing Hsi and stroked the single to left. It was his 83rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 4-0.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Bennett.
Port Huron is now 30-37, while Vermont is 32-35.
